the first post on the tehtin blog. the site is up, the kettle is on.

hello. the site is up, the kettle is on, and this is the blog.

tehtin is a small games collective, run by four handles: kettle, payung, bodge and kopi.

The name is two words pushed together. Teh is tea in Malay and Indonesian. Tin is a tin. Put them together and you get tea in a tin mug: the chipped enamel mug of milky tea on the counter of a British builders’ caff, and the same mug on the table at a warung or a kopitiam. Same mug, same afternoon, two kinds of weather.

That is what our games are about. The small gaps between bigger things. Waiting for the rain to stop. A corner shop at closing time. A night market setting up.

Each game is a tin. One of us makes it, start to finish, in a few weeks. It lasts about two hours, costs about the same as a cup of tea and a biscuit, and then we put the kettle on again.

Four tins make a tingkat, a stack. Then we start another.

The first tin is still on the stove. When it is ready, this blog will say so first, and Steam second.

Follow tehtin on Steam. We will tell you when the kettle’s on.

Pull up a chair.
